Age UK Mobility has today listed Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum as one of the top five most accessible attractions in the UK.

The charity, which is one of the UK’s leading stairlift and disability equipment providers, have conducted research by combining multiple datasets to uncover the most and least accessible of the UK’s top attractions.

The study combined multiple factors across the 30 highest rated TripAdvisor attractions, taking into consideration whether the venues had accessible toilets, universal access, mobility aids offered, onsite disabled parking, free carer tickets, guide dog access and their Euan’s Guide Score.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum was the only attraction that made the list from Glasgow, with Arthur’s Seat and Holyrood Park in Edinburgh also listed but not making the top rankings.

The Gallery and Museum was found to have all accessible features, and also had a Euan’s Guide Score 4.4.

Euansguide.com is the disabled access review site where disabled people, their family, friends and carers can find and share reviews on the accessibility of venues around the UK and elsewhere.

Stonehenge and Titanic Belfast were determined as the most accessible attractions in the UK, both achieving a perfect score.

Sky Garden in London came 30th as the least accessible of the UK’s top attractions. Age UK Mobility found it had a brief and unclear accessibility statement, no universal access and no onsite disabled parking.

Other attractions that ranked highly were the National Railway Museum in York and Hyde Park in London.

The attractions that came in the top 10 are spread out across the UK, and not concentrated entirely within the capital, as many had initially anticipated.
