Footage has emerged of a devastating fire as it ripped through an East Renfrewshire school last night.

Fire crews were called to Mearns Primary just after 7.30pm to tackle the blaze.

Video from the scene shows flames bursting out the Newton Mearns building with smoke billowing into the air.

The clip was posted by Stephen Porteous, who wrote: "Fire at Mearns Primary tonight - brigade in attendance and under control - will be damage I would have thought".
