A Rangers fan accused of attacking a fellow supporter with a bottle told a jury he was the victim.

Jack Fraser, 21, claimed he and his friend Jordy Edgar, 22, were attacked by other Rangers fans outside of Thornwood pub in Partick after an Old Firm game.

Fraser claimed that up to 10 men ran out of the pub to assault them.

Fraser told the jury that he didn’t feel threatened at first because the men were wearing red, white and blue.

Fraser is on trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He denies assaulting John Stillie, 43, with a glass bottle to his severe injury and impairment.

The accused told the court that Mr Stillie was part of the group who attacked them in March last year.

They had been watching Celtic’s 2-3 victory over Rangers at Ibrox and were meeting friends at the Windsor Bar in Partick.

Fraser claimed to have been walking past the Thornwood pub when a man confronted them.

Jurors heard earlier that Mr Stillie was hospitalised after the incident and received extensive treatment for an eye injury.

The trial continues before Sheriff John McCormick.
