A Glasgow woman who has suffered a three-month-long campaign of horrendous online abuse has reported her harasser - to his mother.

Comedian Amna Saleem has received rape and death threats from a male online since August, with the harassment resulting in the stranger photoshopping her face onto pictures of naked bodies and threatening to post them online.

In one horrifying text, the harasser says Ms Saleem's parents will 'kill her' if they saw the pictures he had fabricated - and then threatened to do the deed himself.

But instead of reporting his behaviour to the police, Ms Saleem thought she would do one better, and send screenshots of his threats to his mother.

"Sometimes, grassing on someone to their mother is better than going to the police," Ms Saleem wrote on Twitter.

In the text, she highlights the abuse she has received, along with screenshots of his 'erratic beahviour'.

She wrote: "I wanted to bring your son's increasingly erratic behaviour to your attention.

"If I were a parent, I'd hope someone would let me know too, but I understand it may be difficult to hear.

Glasgow Times:

"I've never met or interacted with your son, so his grievances against me are quite baffling."

She then asks the parent if she could talk to her son - prompting the mother to reply in the best way.

The mother responded: "He's been doing what???

"We did not raise him this way. We are not that kind of family, I assure you.

"He is due home any minute, and we will be speaking to him immediately."

She then promised Ms Saleem could expect an apology from him later that same day - and thanked her for letting her know about her 'stupid son'.

One user wrote: "Honestly can't tell you how much pure, undiluted joy reading that response from them gave me. Just beautiful."

Another said: "The internet would be a far better place with a report to their mother button."

Many were sympathetic to Ms Saleem's ordeal, but couldn't help but applaud the mother's response.

One said: "I’m sorry you’ve had that harassment but love his mum’s response."

And another wrote: "So sorry that you’ve had to deal with this but I think this good have been one of the best responses I’ve ever seen!"
