Police have launched an appeal for information after a man was left with 'facial injuries' after being robbed in Rutherglen.

The victim was approached by two men on Seafield Drive in the early hours of Sunday morning when the attack happened.

The 30-year-old was assaulted near the junction with Ranald Gardend and had a double-figure sum of cash stolen before the perpetrators escaped.

Officers are now hopeful of tracing the two men responsible.

The first is described as having brown hair and of slim build. He was wearing a grey corded jumper and grey jogging bottoms.

The second man is described as having ginger hair and wearing a blue polo shirt with cream coloured stars on the collar and blue trousers.

Detective Constable Steven Divers said: "I would urge anybody who may have seen or heard a disturbance in the area or who has any other information which could assist to come forward as soon as possible."
