Glasgow’s Lord Provost has apologised to Glaswegians for spending £8000 of taxpayer’s money on shoes, clothes and make-overs.

At the full council meeting this afternoon councillor Eva Bolander vowed to continue serving her constituency, Glasgow and Scotland after resigning her position of Lord Provost.

She told members: “On reflection there are items I should not have claimed for. I apologise unreservedly to my colleagues and to the people of Glasgow.

“I will continue to represent my constituents, Glasgow and Scotland.”

Depute Lord Provost Phillip Braat thanked Ms Bolander for her services to the city.

He said: “I think I speak on behalf of this chamber when I say thank you to Eva Bolander for her services to Glasgow over the last two-and-a-half years.

“The role of Lord Provost is not always easy and she has served her city well and I know she will continue to deliver to the people of Glasgow.”
