Masked raiders attacked a pensioner at knifepoint in her own home before robbing a concerned friend who arrived on the scene to help in a terrifying daylight raid.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after balaclava-clad thugs forced their way into the 71-year-old's house in Dumbreck Road on Monday afternoon before ransacking the property for money and jewellery.

The pair then robbed a second woman, also 71, after she disturbed their attack at the house, causing her minor injuries before jumping into a car with a third man and speeding off.

Officers are now hopeful of tracing those responsible.

The first suspect is described as white, tall, with a medium build and was said to be wearing a black balaclava and dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as black, tall, also with a medium build and wearing a balaclava and dark clothing.

The third suspect - who drove the car in the direction of Govan Road after the attack - is described as around 5ft 9in tall, medium to heavy build, around 30-years-old with short dark hair.

He was reportedly wearing a blue checked shirt at the time of the incident.

Detective Constable James Clark, of Govan Community Investigations Unit, said: "The house was completely ransacked by the suspects and this was an extremely upsetting experience for both women.

"Our enquiries are ongoing however we're appealing to anyone who was in the area around that time who witnessed this, or saw anything suspicious, to contact us."
