A WOMAN fled to her car and called the police after a man allegedly broke into her house.
The terrified homeowner, who was alone, allegedly discovered the man in her bathroom at her home in Fulbar Street in Renfrew on Monday at around 1.40 pm.
Police said she quickly fled to the safety of her car and called them.
The force claimed the man had escaped through a window before they arrived.
It is also alleged that the house was completely ransacked and a number of items such as jewellery stolen.
A force spokesman confirmed, however, that a 50-year-old man had been arrested and charged with the offence.
