Hundreds of homes in Glasgow have been plunged into darkness after power cuts swept through the South Side.

Scottish Power confirmed those in the G41, G42 and G43 postcodes would be without power for several hours following the unexpected blackout shortly after 5:40pm on Friday.

The energy firm confirmed they were attempting to remotely reset the network to allow a phased return of power.

It continued: “Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
