A GLASGOW restaurateur is inviting diners into his home to celebrate the 30th birthday of city institution will all funds going towards a major cancer appeal.

Ryan James, 52, owner of Two Fat Ladies, is also marking three decades working in some of the city’s top eateries including Rogano; Victoria & Albert, Abbots Inch, The Brasserie; Gavin’s Mill and Brian Maule at Le Chardon D’Or.

Diners will get the chance to enjoy an 8-course dinner at Ryan’s house in the Old Ropeworks, Port Glasgow with stunning views over the Clyde estuary.

Tables for eight can be booked and your dinner will be cooked by Paisley-born Ryan and another top chef.

At the end of the meal, diners can decide what they want to pay, with all proceeds going to the Black Fairy charity which raises funds for Glasgow’s world-renowned Beatson Cancer Centre.

There will also be a fundraising afternoon tea at The Buttery on November 25.

All monies raised will go towards a new £1.5million piece of equipment at the Beatson.

The Black Fairy charity, which Ryan has been supporting for 9 years, has raised £120k over the years for the centre.

Ryan studied drama at Glasgow University and started out in the hospitality industry at Rogano in the late 80s as a part time bar tender before becoming a manager.

After working his way around other venues, the opportunity to run his own restaurant presented itself..

He is now one of the leading restaurateurs in the city and is chairman of Glasgow Restaurant Association.

He was awarded Manager of the Year at Victoria & Albert when he was 27.
