A workman has been left injured in hospital after an incident near a Maryhill industrial estate.

A large emergency response descended on Shawpark Road at around 12.30pm amid reports a man had "suffered an injury while working in the area".

Shortly after the incident is said to have taken place, Maryhill Housing confirmed there were power cuts in the area.

The Daily Record understands the man, in his 40s, came into contact with a power cable.

He has been taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

On Twitter, Maryhill Housing wrote: "There is a power cut affecting the G20 postcode area of Glasgow.

"We did not know in advance there would be a power cut, and became aware of this at 12.21pm."

The power was later restored around an hour later.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed: “We received a call at 12.35pm today to attend an incident in Maryhill.

"We dispatched our trauma team, our special operations team, an advanced practitioner, one ambulance and a paramedic response unit to the scene.

"We transported one male patient in his 40s to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Police Scotland attended at Shawpark Road in Glasgow around 12.30pm on Thursday, 14 November following a report of a man having suffered an injury while working in the area.

"The man has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware."
