Police have seized an estimated £750,000 in counterfeit goods in a raid on a house in Edinburgh.

The haul included 5975 movie DVDs, 2300 MP3 discs, 300 video games, 868 computer software discs, 1000 blank discs and 885 pornographic DVDs. A USB drive, two multi-burners, four hard drives and one laptop computer were also seized.

The operation was run jointly with the Federation Against Copyright Theft (Fact) and was carried out on April 16.

Among titles seized include recent releases such as American Gangster, The Assassination of Jesse James, Sleuth, The Bucket List and St Trinians.

Police say they are following a positive line of inquiry in relation to the seizure.

A police spokesman said: "This raid was an excellent example of joint co-operation and intelligence sharing between ourselves and Fact.

"Piracy and the sale of counterfeit goods is something that we take extremely seriously as a force, and this operation shows our determination to tackle this kind of criminal activity."
