A GLASGOW man turned trash into cash after becoming passionate about litter.

Robert Brown won £250 through Keep Scotland Beautiful's partnership with LitterLotto.

The partnership, launched in November 2022, encourages more people to bin their litter and offers weekly prizes ranging from £50 to £500.

The 35-year-old, from Greenfield in the East End, is the fourth person from Glasgow to win since the partnership started.

He has always binned his own litter but said that through using the app he is now actively picking up pieces that others have dropped too.

He said: "I have always binned my own litter and always felt passionate about people not dropping their litter as I believe everyone should be proud of their city and keep it clean.

“I only started picking up random litter off the street since doing this and now I do it without even remembering to send in photos half the time."

Robert admits that while litter is still an issue in parts of Glasgow, he's certain that this initiative will have a lasting impact.

"When [LitterLotto] takes off even more and the word spreads it will definitely have a bigger impact. I’m positive of that."

He's even managed to get his sister and some friends to download the app and has vowed to keep spreading the word.

Catherine Gee, deputy chief executive at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “I’m delighted to see that Robert has been rewarded for doing the right thing through our partnership with LitterLotto."
