A MAN who brandished a spanner after an argument broke out over a car shouted “you are getting done in”.

William McKee appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week for sentencing following the incident which took place on Maukinfauld Road in the city’s East End on August 9, 2023.

McKee’s dad had sold a car to a man who then said there were issues with the vehicle and turned up asking for his money back.

The 44-year-old’s father advised the man that he would not be getting the money back as the car had been in working order when he bought it.

This started an argument between the pair.

Whilst they were standing in the street McKee began running towards the man. He was holding a spanner and brandished it stating “you are getting slashed, you are getting done in”.

The man retreated back to his car and McKee went into a property for a short period before shouting “you are getting it”.

After this, the man drove away and called police.

McKee later spoke to officers at Shettleston police office and admitted that he had the spanner in his possession. He was charged.

His lawyer told the court that he accepts everything including the comments made by him.

He added that the car had been in working order and that there had been threats to McKee’s father about windows being smashed.

The defence solicitor said: “An XL Bully dog had been in the car. The man did make attempts to get the dog out of the car.

"The dog was not muzzled.”

Sheriff Simone Sweeney imposed a community payback order with supervision for 12 months and ordered McKee to carry out 108 hours of unpaid work.
