Glass recycling bins in Glasgow will only be picked up once every two months to save the council some cash.
The move from four to eight weekly collections will save £80,000 a year.
The council said the current contract is with a third party and is due to run out in June this year.
A review of street cleaning will also will also take place to review how often streets are cleaned and bins emptied . It will continue to develop smart bins with sensors that to detect when they are full.
It is hoped that £400,000 will be saved through street cleaning innovation measures.
