Road police stopped over 70 cars in the Ibrox area of Glasgow.

Officers searched commercial vehicles passing by and found several drivers in breach of regulations.

Some trucks were found to be overweight, without tachographs.

Drugs and wanted people were also discovered during the checks.

Multiple drivers were in breach of drivers' hours regulations and one van was fined for £300, for lack of insurance.

On Facebook, Glasgow Road Policing said: "Glasgow Road Policing carried out a commercial vehicle road check in the Ibrox industrial area yesterday.

"Over 70 vehicles were stopped and we dealt with overweights, tachographs, no insurance, construction and use offences, drugs possession, wanted persons."

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Road Policing officers in Glasgow carried out a series of commercial vehicle road checks in the Ibrox industrial area of the city.

“Over 70 vehicles were stopped and drivers engaged with.

"Two men were charged in connection with road traffic offences, one man received a recorded police warning in connection with a drugs offence, and one man was arrested in connection with an outstanding warrant.”
