A woman is accused of abducting a 14-year-old boy at knifepoint before making him have sex with her.

Lynne Cassidy is said to have committed the alleged crimes in Coatbridge on July 6 2022.

It is claimed the 39-year-old initially brandished a knife and knuckleduster at the boy in the street putting him in "fear for his safety".

Cassidy then allegedly made the teenager walk with her to her flat in the town.

Prosecutors state she induced him to enter, locked the door and detained him against his will.

A separate charge then claims Cassidy supplied cannabis to the boy there.

A further accusation alleges the woman did "communicate indecently" with the youngster.

The final charge states Cassidy went on to "intentionally cause" the teenager to "participate in sexual activity" at the flat.

This includes claims she got hold of the boy, lead him to her bedroom, took off some of her clothes and repeatedly pulled the child on top of her.

The indictment alleges Cassidy went on to "cause" him to have sex with her as well as make him touch her body.

The case called on Friday at the High Court in Glasgow, where lawyers for Cassidy pleaded not guilty on her behalf.

A special defence of consent was lodged in connection with the sexual activity charge.

Lord Doherty set a trial due to start in April 2024 in Livingston. The case could last up to four days.

Cassidy, of Wishaw, remains on bail meantime.
