A woman who hurled sectarian abuse at police officers has been ordered to be of good behaviour.

Shelby Thomson, 24, made the vile comments in Glasgow's Mount Vernon on April 17 2022.

The city's sheriff court heard that officers were at the property for a separate matter.

Thomson, of the city's Baillieston, was abusive towards officers who told her to leave.

She initially departed the scene but stood at the end of the road and repeatedly called officers "Scummy b******s."

Thomson was warned to stop her behaviour but she threatened to stab an officer with a knife.

She then stated: "You only done this because you're all fenians."

Prosecutor Lauren Murphy-Carr added that Thomson said "Fenian b******s" several times.

Thomson pleaded guilty on Wednesday to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was aggravated by religious prejudice.

John McLaughlin, defending, told the court that the incident was out of character for the first offender who was drunk.

Sheriff Louise Arrol KC deferred sentence for six months good behaviour.
