A Glasgow restaurant has been named 'exceptional' in the Good Food Guide Awards.

The annual event returned to celebrate the best and most diverse eateries in the UK with a swanky event at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Tuesday.

With dozens of prestigious restaurants recognised by the awards, just one Glasgow spot was mentioned - Cail Bruich.

The Michelin-starred eatery in the West End was named on the guide's 'exceptional' list for 2024 alongside the likes of The Ritz and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.

Meaning 'eat well' in Gaelic, Cail Bruich is famed for its five-to-seven-course tasting menus using the best local Scottish or British produce.

After the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2021, head chef Lorna McNee became the first and only female solo chef in Glasgow to have the honour.

Good Food Guide editor Elizabeth Carter said: “It's a new era for The Good Food Guide with a new look and a revamped rating system, but the Guide’s deep-rooted values remain exactly the same.

"There’s always been a lot of excitement surrounding our awards, and this year we've overhauled them to better reflect the fast-paced changes in Britain’s dining out scene.

"I’m incredibly proud of the entire awards list as every restaurant on it, not just the winners, sets the standard by which all others should be measured.”
