MOTORISTS across the Borders have been seeking clarification after rumours circulated online that car insurance is not valid during a red weather warning.
It comes as Scotland is placed under a red (take action) weather warning by the Met Office.
It is the first red alert for snow in Scotland since a new warning system came into place by the forecaster in 2011.
The answer to the question that has got so many Scots talking is that your insurance IS still valid - however, if your insurance company can prove contributory negligence on your part, such as dangerous driving in the snowy conditions, then your claim may be questioned.
