SO tomorrow I'm set to become a bridesmaid for the 6th time in what I now consider to be my professional career as a bridesmaid.

My dear friends Ashley and Stef will take their vows to become Mr and Mrs Lach and I couldn't be more excited for them.

Yes, six times round the old bridesmaid block for moi not to mention a brief stint as a flower girl at my Auntie Marie and Uncle Gerry's wedding back in the 80s.

I'm pretty much an expert in my field having worn almost every colour and style of dress available to the humble bridesmaid and I've worked with six very different brides.

It all started back in 1994 when my dear cousin Jacqueline asked me to be her bridesmaid. I was only 14 years old at the time (although I looked about 35 in the pictures) and this was undoubtedly the single most exciting thing to ever happen to me since attending the Michael Jackson concert in Glasgow Green back in 1992.

(That occasion sadly saw the end of our family's white lace communion gloves that had been passed down through the generations thanks to my sister Lynsey and I thinking it was a good idea to sneak them out of the house and wearing one each in tribute to the prince of pop while standing in a very muddy, dirty green. My mother still hasn't got over it!)

Anyway, back to being a bridesmaid, as I mentioned it was the 90s, a time where long silk satin shirts, mood rings and black plastic block heels out of Razzle Dazzle were the height of fashion.

My first ever bridesmaid dress was bang on trend for that era. It was lilac satin with puffy sleeves and had a layered frill bottom with huge bows around it.

It was honestly the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen and I felt like a Disney princess in it.

Sadly, the 90s style hasn't quite stood the test of time although my cousin and I still have a right good giggle every time we see the pictures especially those featuring my lovely cousin Kenny, the groom, with his Simon Le Bon hair do.

My second stint as a bridesmaid was at my darling friend Sheryl's wedding in 2001 where I wore a beautiful gold satin gown with matching shawl.

It was set in the grounds of a castle and was honestly one of the most picturesque places I'd ever been.

I loved being part of the bridal party but it would be another 11 years before I'd get opportunity to do it all again, this time for my best friend Carrie in January 2012.

Carrie’s was one of the best weddings I'd ever been to as she'd got married to Paul over in Jamaica and then came back and had a Glasgow wedding in Guys Restaurant in the Merchant City.

She had booked out the entire venue and served up Caribbean cocktails on arrival and the most delicious food I'd ever tasted.

This time I wore a black gown with diamanté detailing and I was extremely honoured to be asked to do a speech on the night for my dear friend who I'd spent my entire twenties with.

The bridesmaid duties then came thick and fast with my fourth appearance on the bridesmaid circuit happening just a few months later at my sister Laura’s wedding in May 2012.

This was so unbelievably special as she was my first sister to get married.

I wore a stunning purple dress and I’ll never forget looking at her in total awe that day thinking how did that little girl who I used to play with and read stories to grow up so quickly?

The following year it was my sister Lynsey’s turn to get married and this time I was given the highest honour a bridesmaid can receive by being made chief bridesmaid or maid of honour.

I jumped at the chance what with this being the highlight of my bridesmaid career.

It was a magical day and I even got to sing an original song I wrote especially for the happy couple for their first dance while wearing a baby pink dress.

So tomorrow will be my sixth and final time as a bridesmaid before I get married myself and I couldn't think of a better way to bow out than at my friend Ashley’s wedding.

I wish them both a lifetime of happiness and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day.

Here's to a fantastic wedding and on a personal note it will be so nice and refreshing not to have to tackle the other female guests to the floor in order to catch the all important bouquet when it's thrown for a change. Phew.

My dear friend and one of Scotland’s hottest talents, actor/singer Gary Lamont is starring in 69 Shades of Gay at the Oran Mor in Glasgow from the 8th - 18th February.

This hilarious one man show is not to be missed and I've already got my tickets so you’ll need to be quick if you want to snap up tickets to this smash hit of a evening.
