DAVE KING has stated that if he topples the Rangers board at the EGM he will install himself, John Gilligan and Paul Murray as directors.

I am sure all of them would bring a great deal of commitment and expertise to the roles if they were successful.

I know John well. He has done very well with the Tennent's organisation. He makes money for companies. On top of that, he is a lifelong Rangers fan.

I have known him for many years and I don't know many bigger supporters. If he went on to the board you would know exactly what you are going to get.

The same could be said for Paul, who I have also known for a long time, too. Put simply, he has Rangers at heart.

John and Paul aren't going to come in for a year or two and then disappear with a hefty pay-off like certain others who have. They are like John Lawrence and the Rangers directors of a bygone era. They want Rangers to do well and flourish.

I know George Letham, Douglas Park and George Taylor are exactly the same. It is vital the directors are respected by supporters. If they see there are Rangers men on the board they will come back in their thousands.

At the moment, the fans don't have any confidence in the directors and that is why attendances are so low.

That is why it is so important that Dave and others like him come to the fore now.

Robert Sarver, too. Don't think the American banker has moved away. He is watching with interest what is going on at the club. He has spoken to both sides and is monitoring events with interest.the club Manchester United. They probably are now.

The same is true of John Henry at Liverpool. He had no connection with the club whatsoever. They were prepared to put money in and the fans accepted that.

But these people had meetings with supporters and gave interviews. So the fans knew exactly where they were coming from.

Rangers have a man who is reputed to be worth over £3billion involved in the running of the club, but nobody knows what Mike Ashley's intentions are.

The club needs people with affection for it to run it. If Rangers men got in, and Sarver came in to run it with them, then they would do well.
