GLASGOW’S Warrior Nation is populating like never before as the club look set to smash their record for season ticket sales.

With the new Guinness PRO12 season still eight weeks away, it hasn’t stopped the title holders assembling in huge numbers.

Just a week into July, more than 3,200 season ticket briefs have been snapped up, a staggering amount considering last year there were 3,500 in total.

It represents a huge jump forward for the Scotstoun club, which continues to grow both on and off the park.

Following on from their first-ever PRO12 triumph last campaign, head coach Gregor Townsend is building a team to be just as big a success, while bosses at Warriors are keen to see the club’s infrastructure grow even more.

The capacity at Scotstoun has been adjusted over the last few seasons, dependent on the demand for tickets.

And this season the set-up is to increase further with the introduction of another two covered stands.

A Warriors spokesperson said: “It's really exciting to have more than 3,000 season ticket members already on board, with more than eight weeks still to go until the start of the new season.

“There is a real buzz around the club following the PRO12 title success and it’s great to see so many supporters renew their season tickets, as well as many new members joining the Warrior Nation.

“We’ll have two new covered stands – one seated and one terraced – in place from the start of the new season, which means we'll have a capacity of around 7,000 for every home match at Scotstoun.

"We have been drawn in a very exciting European Rugby Champions Cup pool containing Northampton Saints from the English Premiership, Racing 92 from the Top 14 in France, as well as the Scarlets from the Guinness PRO12 and the season ticket membership includes all 14 home games, including the European matches.

“The deadline for season ticket membership renewals is midday next Tuesday, so members now have just under a week left to secure their seat for next season's campaign."
