RAITH ROVERS have announced a loan swap deal with Rangers, as midfielder Jordan Thompson moves to Kirkcaldy until January and defender David Bates secures a switch to Ibrox for the same period.
Thompson spent the second half of last season on loan at Airdrie, where the 19-year-old scored one goal in nine appearances for the League One side.
The Northern Irish youth international is a former Manchester United youth player and signed a two-year deal with the Gers last summer, but has only made three senior appearances for the club.
Centre-back Bates will join up with the Light Blues' Under-20 side after making 25 appearances between League One, where he went on loan with Brechin City, and the Championship with Raith last season.
Rovers manager Gary Locke said: “Jordan is an exciting young talent and I’m really delighted that Rangers have agreed to this deal, as I’m sure he will prove to be a real handful for our opponents.
“I’m really pleased that young David is getting this opportunity. It’s his big chance to prove how good he can be, and I will be getting reports from Mark and David on how he is performing.”
