Trevor Carson Left helpless as McGregor’s stunning strike flew by him after ten minutes before a deflection took Ntcham’s effort beyond his reach. Made a couple of stops thereafter, including a terrific double-save from Dembele 7

Charles Dunne Found the Celtic attack too hot the handle as part of a back-three. Up against an unusually quiet Forrest when moved to the left. Coped slightly better there but it wasn’t what the defender would have had in mind, or what Motherwell needed 5

Cedric Kipre Didn’t get to grips with the impressive Dembele early on and that pattern continued as it turned into another day to forget for the defender. Not at his best when he couldn’t afford to put a foot wrong 5

Tom Aldred Weak header clear was punished as McGregor opened the scoring and the stopper couldn’t recover from a shaky start. Nodded a Bigirimana corner wide to round off a disappointing day 5

Chris Cadden Started on the right but shifted as part of a reshuffle from Robinson. Couldn’t get involved as much as he would have liked but improved in the second half. Had a low shot saved by Gordon and then directed a header just wide late on 6

Liam Grimshaw Didn’t get close enough to Ntcham as he rifled in the second goal and couldn’t make an impression on the game. Left his mark on Tierney late in the first half, though. Plenty of endeavour but not enough quality at times 6

Carl McHugh Steelmen skipper can’t be faulted for effort but he found the going tough as Celtic dominated in the middle of the park. Replaced before the hour mark 5

Allan Campbell Got about the midfield but didn’t see enough of the ball to hurt Celtic and cut a frustrated figure at times. Shot early in the second half was easily held by Gordon but that was as close as he would come at Hampden 6

Richard Tait Switched from left to right after half an hour as Motherwell attempted to stem the flow in midfield. Booked for a foul on Tierney and it was the Celtic full-back that came out on top in that particular head-to-head 5

Ryan Bowman Starved of service in the first half as Motherwell struggled to assert themselves as an attacking force. Was involved more after the break as the Well improved but chances proved hard to come by for the forward 6

Curtis Main Got little change out of the Celtic defence early on and then scooped his first shot high over the bar. Forced Gordon into action just after the break. Led the line as well as he could but there was no repeat of his previous Hampden heroics 6

Gael Bigirimana (for McHugh 55) Gave Motherwell fresh legs in a central area as they attempted to rebuild after the break. Was always going to be difficult to hit the ground running but put up a decent showing and almost gave Motherwell hope with a curling free-kick ten minutes from time 6

Elliot Frear (for Campbell 77) The winger was the final roll of the dice for Motherwell. Had no chance of becoming the Steelmen savour, though 3
