STUART Armstrong of Celtic and John Souttar of Hearts became the latest players to pull out of the Scotland squad for the summer tour of Peru and Mexico today.

Armstrong suffered a hamstring strain after coming on towards the end of his side's 2-0 win over Motherwell in the William Hill Scottish Cup final at Hampden on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Souttar, who had been struggling with a knee injury towards the end of the 2017/18 campaign, has had to admit defeat in his battle to be involved.

The withdrawal of the midfielder and centre half means that six players have now pulled out of Alex McLeish's original 24-man squad for the games in Lima and Mexico City.

Last week Barry Douglas of Wolves, Ryan Fraser of Bournemouth, Allan McGregor of Rangers, Matt Ritchie of Newcastle United all called off.

Scott Bain of Celtic, Chris Cadden of Motherwell, Stephen O'Donnell of Kilmarnock have all been drafted in as replacements.

McLeish will have to use two different teams for the games a week today and then the following Saturday due to the playing conditions and is trying to call up last-minute replacements.
