Gerrard said: “It is a huge club and I am very excited but now it is time to work and stop talking – it is time to walk the walk.
“It was the first day so [there were] a lot of meetings and a lot of people to meet.
“[I am] getting used to the environment and the people within it.
“I do not want to say too much. It is time to get to work now.
“We are trying to make some changes and trying to make the team and the squad a lot stronger.
“Obviously, the defensive area is what we are looking to sort out first.”
