You can’t put a dent in Leigh Griffiths.

Whatever else is going on around the player, you have to admire the manner in which he just gets his head down and gets on with it.

That is three goals in three games now for him and right now he looks like being one of the first names on the team sheet for tomorrow’s game against Aberdeen.

It is as if he has watched Moussa Dembele walk out of the door and decided that it is time he made himself the first choice striker again at the club.

If he was irked at finding himself out of the Scotland starting line-up and on the bench for the opening Europa league game, then he has gone about showing his frustration in the right way.

And it is not just the goals that are coming for him.

I actually think his general play is good too and that is what tends to happen when players are going about their business with a bit of confidence.

Griffiths just seems to be able to go out and put the ball in the net. He missed a couple of decent chances against St Johnstone the other night but you would never write him off in a game.

You know if he gets a wee chance then he is inclined to take it and Celtic needed that result on Wednesday night.

I also think that Odsonne Edouard needs a goal just to give him a bit of confidence.

The record breaking signing of the summer, I think he looks short on belief at the minute, something that will pick up whenever he gets himself back on the scoresheet.

But with Griffiths looking as though he is coming into a bit of form I think that I would be inclined to keep both players in the team.

Giving them the chance to go and work together and establish a partnership might lend a different dynamic to the team.

I think they could link a little bit closer but there were signs there against St Johnstone that it is something to think about. Edouard is still only 20 and I do think that he has the ability to be a really top player.

But his own situation is different as to what it was last term when he was mostly coming off the bench. The expectation levels are different this term after the money that the club paid out for him.

He just needs to relax a bit and once he gets a couple of goals he should be able to settle.

I also thought that Lewis Morgan looked lively when he came on too. We haven’t seen too much of the former St Mirren winger because he underwent a knee operation almost as soon as he was in the door but he looked keen to make an impression when he came onto the pitch.

Morgan had an impressive season for St Mirren last term and he looks as though he is hungry to go and prove that he can do it on a bigger stage.

It has been a tough few weeks for Celtic but I think that you would look at the second half performance against St Johnstone and suggest that they are capable still of turning up.

For all that they didn’t play as well as they could they created enough chances to win comfortably and that at least would suggest that things are picking up again.

It then comes down to being able to put chances away and put games to bed. But overall I have to say that we are still in the early days of the season.

It is too early to judge anything and, without wanting to make excuses, I did feel that although the performances and results against St Mirren and Kilmarnock were poor I think you have to see the bigger picture.

St Mirren came on the back of an international week and the surface at Rugby park is one that Celtic always seem to struggle on. Again, that is not to exonerate poor performances but I think you can get swept up with a couple of poor results.

I also think that until now you have been able to trust Rodgers’ team when it comes to turning it out for the big tests, as we saw with the win over Rangers.
