Hibernian turned up the heat on city rivals Hearts at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership with a 6-0 demolition of Hamilton.

Three goals in 14 first-half minutes from Martin Boyle, Stevie Mallan and Emerson Hyndman set second-placed Hibs on course for a fourth successive league win.

Neil Lennon's side were not done there, however, and second-half efforts from Mallan, Florian Kamberi and a Matt Kilgallon own goal saw the rampant hosts claim their biggest league win since 2006.

The victory also sees them move to within two points of pacesetters Hearts, who take their unbeaten record to Ibrox on Sunday to face Rangers.

Aberdeen were also celebrating a comfortable victory after seeing off St Mirren 4-1 at Pittodrie.

As at Easter Road, the match was as good as over by half-time with Sam Cosgrove, Connor McLennan and Max Lowe all netting before the break - their first goals for the club - to put Derek McInnes' men in charge.

Striker Cosgrove, whose only previous goal as a professional before today came with Carlisle in January, then doubled his Dons account in the 65th minute before Simeon Jackson netted a consolation for Saints.

Adil Nabi's maiden goal for Dundee was not enough to save Neil McCann's men from yet another defeat, with Kilmarnock batting back for a 2-1 win.

Bottom-placed Dundee had put an end to a run of seven successive defeats with their victory at Hamilton last weekend and they looked set to build on that when Nabi put them ahead after 10 minutes.

However, Kilmarnock soon drew level through an Andy Boyle own goal and Eamonn Brophy's second-half penalty settled matters, with Greg Stewart's subsequent miss from the spot for the visitors not proving costly.

In Saturday's other Premiership clash, 10-man Motherwell held on for a 1-1 draw with Livingston.

Ryan Bowman put the hosts ahead in the 17th minute but Keaghan Jacobs levelled in the second half and the 78th-minute dismissal of Carl McHugh meant Well had to battle for the point that ends their three-match losing run.
