IT is never as easy as saying that you will go into a game and come out with the three points, especially when you are playing at international level.

There will be an expectation on Scotland to beat Israel this week in the Nations League but you can’t take anything for granted.

People will say ‘it is Israel, we should beat them by a couple of goals’. International games are not easy, though.

We have got a young, hungry squad and players like Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney and Scott McTominay, who is at one of the biggest clubs in the world, that will be mainstays of the team for years to come.

But supporters always look at the here and now and they will be expecting Alex McLeish’s side to go to Israel and make it two from two in the group following the win over Albania.

It is going to take time for this side to really get going. But Alex is a tremendous manager and he needs a bit of time to get them settled because he can’t work with the players every day.

We have got to be looking to win the group. That is not an unrealistic target and it would be a disappointment for the whole country if we didn’t do that.

Alex and the players certainly won’t be taking anything for granted going to Israel. Hopefully they can get another win.
