However you look at, Alex McLeish is under tremendous pressure now with Scotland.

I actually thought the performance against Israel was dreadful.

It really was almost impossible to draw any positives out of it at all and I do think that Scotland should be beating teams like Albania and Israel.

We have the players who are capable of performing at that level but as a team it has been desperately poor.

The Nations League is still salvageable depending on what happens from the next two games but right now it is very difficult to see just where you look to find any cause for optimism.

International football is not easy but I do think Scotland have the players to compete with where we are in the Nations League placings.

That we are not doing so has to be a major cause for concern, and Alex has been in football long enough to understand that it is all about results.

He will know that these next few games will be huge for him in determining what comes next.

There is always a fall-out in the aftermath of poor results and performances but it remains to be seen if it is possible to recover from them.

But results dictate everything.

And Scotland have no right to expect that they can go over to Albania and win the game given what happened in Israel last week.

The question now is whether there can be a change in circumstances over the next few games and what that does for McLeish but he is well aware of how it works and it all comes down to results.
