I wrote in this column last week that football supporters don’t get the credit often enough when they do good and don’t get the praise when it is merited.
I highlighted the work that the Rangers fans have done for the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal and I really enjoyed my time there last weekend.
I have to credit those that have raised thousands of pounds for David Hagen over the last few weeks as he bravely battles Motor Neurone Disease.
A Rangers XI will take on a Falkirk and Hearts XI on Sunday afternoon in a benefit match for David and I hope there is a good turnout to support him and his family.
Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for Under-16s and kick-off is at 4pm at the Falkirk Stadium as the Development Squad get a run out for a really worthwhile cause.
I met David at an event in Falkirk last Saturday and it was so sad to see the struggle he is going through. It is such a shame.
I know the support he has received recently means a lot to him and the money that has been raised will really help his family. That is all he is thinking about.
The hall was packed and there was a great crowd there to support him. David wanted to stay for the whole night but he had to leave because it was getting too much for him.
The supporters that are organising events and raising money are a real credit to themselves and their club. A huge well done to them.
I know everyone will wish him well and he will be in everyone’s thoughts as he continues his battle with a really awful disease.
