The Atlanta Falcons recorded a second straight win by seeing off the struggling New York Giants 23-20 on Monday night.
Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 379 yards and one touchdown while running back Tevin Coleman burst through the Giants defence to add another score as the Falcons improved to 3-4.
Odell Beckham Jr had eight receptions for 143 yards as he became the youngest player to reach 5,000 receiving yards in the NFL, and he added a late touchdown for the Giants.
But visiting quarterback Eli Manning was sacked four times as the visitors slipped to 1-6.
The scoring started in the second quarter when Ryan’s 47-yard throw found wide receiver Marvin Hall in the end zone.
The teams traded field goals in the second and the third periods before the Falcons took firm control when Coleman ran in from 30 yards for his second touchdown of the season.
The Giants hit back through rookie running back Saquon Barkley’s two-yard touchdown run with just under five minutes left, but Atlanta’s stand-in kicker Giorgio Tavecchio responded by landing a 56-yard field goal.
Beckham caught Manning’s one-yard throw with five seconds left, but Atlanta recovered the onside kick to end the game.
