Daniel Arzani has confirmed that his season is over after scans confirmed that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Australian teenager suffered the injury at Dens Park last Wednesday night as he made his debut for Brendan Rodgers' side.

Arzani joined the club on a two-year-loan deal this summer but had to be patient as he waited to make an appearance for the first-team.

The winger was stretchered off in the 5-0 win over Dundee and has acknowledged that his worst fears over the injury have been realised.

"Unfortunately I will need an ACL op, ruling me out till next season," Arzani tweeted.

"This is a tough time for me but also a chance to improve and come out of this better than ever."

Manager Rodgers is also resigned to losing the services of midfielder Eboue Kouassi for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old Ivorian, 20 damaged his ACL in Celtic's League Cup semi-final win over Hearts at Murrayfield and will not play again.

"It's hugely disappointing for both boys because they have been on the sidelines working their way through and in the last week they have been given opportunities, and both [injuries] are innocuous really," Rodgers said.

"Daniel's was a twist where his studs stayed in the grass and twisted his knee."

Meanwhile, Celtic have been linked again with Iranian defender Milad Mohammadi as they eye a January deal for the but face competition from Watford and Fenerbahce.

Left-back Mohammadi was on Celtic’s radar during the summer transfer window after he caught the eye at the World Cup with Iran.

Mohammadi is out of contract with Russian Premier League side Akhmat Grozny next summer and free to sign a pre-contract agreement with interested clubs when the transfer window reopens in January.

Akhmat Grozny could decide to try and cash-in on Mohammadi in January rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer and this has alerted Celtic, Watford and Fenerbahce. Rodgers' side have been boosted by the news that 22-year-old Leipzig striker Timo Werner is set to miss out on their Europa League clash on Thursday night at Celtic Park.

Werner has been rested from the Europa League games with an ongoing tow injury but scored twice at the weekend in a 3-0 win against Hertha Berlin and has netted six times in 10 Bundesliga games so far this season.
