As both a member of the Scotland training squad and the teams that kept Glasgow Warriors at the top of Pro14 Conference A last month, George Turner is well placed to assess the club’s chances of sustaining a challenge on two fronts this season and reckons they are well placed to do so.

“Specially with the Scotland boys away the last few games the players who have been here have actually stepped up really well,” he contended. “With the selection a few boys are going to make it back in. We’ve got rested players who are top quality, so I think we’re going to be all right.”

Setting aside the highly promising players who have emerged in recent weeks, two impressive full teams of international players and imports justify that reasoning:

Team A: S Hogg; T Seymour, N Grigg, P Horne (all Scotland), DTH van der Merwe (Canada); A Hastings, G Horne (all Scotland); O Kebble (South African), F Brown (Scotland), P du Plessis (South African), J Gray, R Harley, A Ashe (all Scotland), C Gibbins (capt) (New Zealander), M Fagerson (Scotland)

Team B: R Jackson (Scotland); N Matawalu (Fiji), H Jones, A Dunbar, L Jones (all Scotland); B Thomson (South African), A Price; A Allan, G Turner, Z Fagerson, T Swinson (all Scotland), G Peterson, D Taimelau (both USA), C Fusaro, R Wilson (capt) (both Scotland).

Further replacements available include – R Hughes (Scotland), N Frisby (Australia), J Bhatti, K Bryce (both Scotland), S Halanukonuka (Tonga)
