ALFREDO MORELOS has apologised to his team-mates and Rangers fans for his Old Firm red card as he vowed to improve his behaviour.

The striker was dismissed for the fifth time this season on Sunday as Steven Gerrard's side lost 2-1 at Parkhead and Celtic moved within touching distance of title glory.

Morelos will miss four matches in the Premiership - the first two of which will be against Hearts and Motherwell in the coming days - and will be fined a week's wages as Gerrard takes a hard line against him for his latest moment of madness that cost Rangers any chance of victory.

Writing on his Twitter page, Morelos said: “Good afternoon, I would like to offer an apology to all the fans, my team-mates and the coaching staff for what happened in yesterday’s match. I promise to do everything in my power to ensure that nothing like that happens again and to give the club and the fans my all.

"Thanks for the support and affection you’ve always given me.”

Gerrard will also be without the services of Andy Halliday for the outing against Hearts this week after he picked up a second yellow card for his part in the post-match melee. Halliday confronted Brown for celebrating in front of the away fans and players from both teams clashed.

That may not be the end of the disciplinary fall-out, though, and winger Ryan Kent will find out on Tuesday whether he faces a ban for punching Scott Brown.

Kent lashed out at the 33-year-old in the aftermath of James Forrest’s winner but the incident wasn’t spotted by referee Bobby Madden.

Compliance Officer Clare Whyte has until 3pm this afternoon to issue Notices of Complaint from the weekend fixtures and various issues are currently being investigated.
