AS soon as anyone starts playing well at Celtic Park a price tag is put on him.

This is understandable to an extent. The club is open about how it goes about its business. We scout for great young talent, develop them and then after a couple of years sell them for a massive profit.

Odssone Edouard is the next one. Moussa Dembele went to Lyon for £20million. This young lad will one day soon be in that price bracket.

And I emphasis young because this is a 21-year-old. He’s just a baby in football terms.

And yet there he was on Sunday, running Rangers ragged, scoring a fantastic goal and then setting-up James Forrest for the winner.

I have always liked Edouard. Sure, he’s raw and lacks a consistency, but for a kid in a strange land he has been superb.

Against Rangers, the striker looked £9m well spent.

Also, the departure of Dembele would have hurt him. The two were close with the senior man looking after his countryman.

However, he knuckled down and that’s now 19 goals and counting this season.

I’ve been trying to think who he reminds me of but Edouard is a bit of a one-off.

He’s gangly for a start and then when he gets going there’s no stopping him.

I don’t want to see him go. It would will be great to see how he develops at Celtic for a few years yet.

However, if keeps improving, as he has been doing, then clubs with bigger pockets will take a look at him.

And French Eddie, as the fans call him, won’t be available on the cheap. This lad is a serious player.
