RYAN JACK picked up his only silverware of the season on Sunday night as Rangers fans marked a moment he rates as the highlight of his career so far.

But the midfielder is confident Steven Gerrard’s side will have more reasons to celebrate next term as the Gers try to end their long wait for a winner’s medal.

Jack picked up the Goal of the Season prize at Rangers’ awards ceremony just hours after helping the Light Blues to a 3-0 victory over Motherwell.

It was a win that will ultimately matter little in terms of their Premiership ambitions as Celtic close in on an eighth successive top flight crown.

Come the end of the campaign, it will be a case of better but not good enough for Rangers.

Hopes were high at Ibrox when Jack’s Old Firm winner fired Rangers into title contention in December but Gerrard’s side will end the campaign empty-handed.

And Jack knows the Light Blues must stride forward once again if they are to finally see the league flag flying over Ibrox once again.

He told RangersTV: “It means a lot. The goal on the day was a special moment for my family, for the fans and for my teammates and staff. It goes a long way knowing how much it meant to so many people, so I am delighted with the award.

“Old Firm games are hectic and every game is 100mph. I remember Kenty cutting the ball back and I thought ‘hit the target’ and thankfully it went in and I am delighted with the goal.

“You have the likes of Graham Dorrans and Andy Halliday who have said to me – ‘look, you are going to be remembered for scoring a winner in an Old Firm match for the rest of your life.

“At the minute, you don’t really get time to think about that, but when my career finishes and I look back, there is no doubt it will probably be the most special point in my career.

“It has been a great season for me. I have really enjoyed my football since the Gaffer has come in, and he has been excellent with me.

“I have no doubt next season we can only kick on and it can really be our season.

“We are not far away – both times we have lost the Old Firm game it has been very close and the time we won, it was really convincing at Ibrox.”
