GLENN MIDDLETON got another couple of goals for the Reserves as Rangers beat Celtic 2-0 on Monday and he will hope to finish the season positively.

It has been a difficult second half of the campaign for Glenn as he has fallen out of the first team a bit but he has got a real resilience about him, which you have to have as a kid.

You have to prove yourself to get into the first team. When you drop out, it is another test and you have to show you can get back in again, whether that is through training or in Reserve games.

Glenn looks to be doing everything right in that regard and he will hope to get his chance in the last couple of Premiership games for Steven Gerrard’s side.

I do think he is a real talent and he will only get better through time. It is good for him to have first team minutes under his belt this season and this whole campaign will certainly stand him in good stead.

Rangers aren’t going for the title anymore and they should secure second place so there might be a chance for Steven to give the likes of Glenn a run of games.

It is a good chance to test out some of the younger ones and give them a bit of game time and Steven will have one eye on pre-season and who he wants to take with the squad.

Glenn hasn’t been playing because of the form of Ryan Kent in recent months and if Rangers can keep a hold of him then it is going to make it hard for him next term. Plus, you have Jordan Jones coming in.

But he has shown he has got that mental strength to keep trying and keep going and he certainly has the ability to play in the first team. Hopefully he gets that chance again.
