KILMARNOCK could be left with a significant six-figure shortfall in ticket revenue next season as Rangers consider whether to accept their full allocation at Rugby Park.
The Light Blues will receive half of their usual number of briefs for the Premiership finale in Ayrshire next month after the decision was taken to house home supporters in the Moffat Stand rather than give it to away fans as usual.
Rangers will now receive just 4,000 tickets for the Chadwick Stand and fans have hit out at the call from the Killie board.
But Kilmarnock could now be left with thousands of unsold seats for matches next season.
A Rangers spokesman said: “We are disappointed with this decision, which will force us to consider carefully what allocation we will seek for future matches at Rugby Park.”
Kilmarnock announced the decision to half Rangers’ allocation on Tuesday as the Rugby Park hierarchy attempt to turn the final league outing into ‘a celebration of all things Killie’ as part of their 150th anniversary celebrations.
Steve Clarke’s side are on course to finish third in the Premiership and Killie chief Billie Bowie said: “Kilmarnock FC is a family club and we want to make sure Rugby Park is an enjoyable and safe environment for people to enjoy watching football. As promised, we have worked with and listened to feedback from our leading supporters’ groups in a real effort to encourage and inspire the next generation of Killie fans.
“After the game we’re encouraging all Killie fans to stay in the stadium and watch one of the most memorable Killie teams in recent memory complete their traditional lap of honour complete with a few words from our manager Steve Clarke.”
