MARK HATELEY is pleased to see Rangers building for a brighter future off the park as well as on it.

The Ibrox board, led by chairman Dave King, have provided funds for a series of upgrades at Ibrox and the Hummel Training Centre this term and further works are planned for the summer to increase the standard of facilities.

Hateley now has an ambassadorial behind the scenes with the Light Blues team and reckons the club are on the right track once again.

He said: “It has been long overdue and it has all come very quickly. Everything that is being done on and off the field is pointing to the future and the wellbeing of the football club.

“We are developing at a great rate, on and off the field. I think on the park we are ahead of where we should be, and off it we have had to strengthen because of the demand that Steven Gerrard and his team have put on the business.

“It is all going great. I have been here seven months and it seems like a week, it has gone in that quick. But business is good, as they say.

“Going too quickly sometimes has its dangers and you need to have the right infrastructure in to support this type of club and institution.

“We have come a long way very quickly, but the foundations are in place now. The fans see it on the field, but everything to support that is here.

“For a number of years, that was redundant. A club of this size has to be run a certain way and it is now getting up to speed and back to the realms of a top club.

“I was asked to come in by previous incumbents and I didn’t think the time was right for me, on a number of occasions. When Steven came, it was a breath of fresh air and the understanding was hook, line and sinker for me.”
