RANGERS will secure second spot in the Premiership this season with victory over Aberdeen and Steven Gerrard will be determined to achieve that at the first opportunity.

It isn’t, of course, the position we wanted to be in but there is a small incentive there for Rangers.

Derek McInnes’ side have had the upper hand on a couple of occasions this season, especially in the cup games, and the record against them isn’t what it could have been.

The players will know all about the rivalry by now and they will feel they have a point to prove at Ibrox.

The home games especially have been really frustrating but Rangers are in good form after three impressive wins over the last couple of weeks.

If Rangers can beat Aberdeen and secure second, it could give Steven a chance to give a few of the younger players a run out in the last few Premiership games.

It would be great to see a couple of the kids get an opportunity but that can only happen once second spot has been earned.
