THEY say when you sign with Rangers that you should judge them after six month to a year, not right at the start. It takes time to get to know the expectation levels and the pressure and what it takes to play in front of the fans at Ibrox.

So you have got to give people time to adapt and to really show what they are capable of. You don’t always get that with fans, but when you are a manager or coach, or a fellow player, you need to give people time.

Overall, Rangers’ signings this year haven’t been bad. There are ones like Borna Barisic and Eros Grezda, who cost a bit of money between them, that haven’t performed, though.

There is no manager in the world that is going to get every single signing right. The recruitment, for me, has been good and he has only had two windows.

Once you get to after the next January window, you are then in a better place to judge Gerrard and his staff in terms of their recruitment. It is still early days for Steven Gerrard.
