I was happy to hear that Kieran Tierney is going to undergo surgery on a double hernia to rectify the problem he has been struggling with this season.

If you don’t feel right within yourself it can impact on your performance. You can’t push yourself to the level that you can when you are free of injury. It can hinder you badly.

I am not saying that has been the case with Kieran, but that can happen.

Hopefully the operation gets everything cleared up. He is young enough and has still got time on his side.

He is an exceptionally fit lad at the best of times.

It is also good that Celtic can play him between now and the end of the season - including in the Ladbrokes Premiership match against Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow.

He has played a big part in the success the team has had this season and it would be fitting if he could help them to win the Scottish title.

His presence at Hampden on May 25 will also help Celtic in the Scottish Cup final.
