STEVEN Davis has put pen to paper on a one-year deal that will see the Northern Ireland internationalist join Rangers permanently at the end of the season. “I am obviously delighted my future has been sorted out,” said Davis. “I am delighted to now get everything signed and sealed.”

With left back Lee Wallace getting set to leave Ibrox, Dundee United manager Robbie Neilson thinks the 31-year-old will have no shortage of offers as he decides where to go next. Neilson said: “He’s still a very good player and he was back in the squad at the weekend. There will be a lot of teams interested in Lee.”

Ahead of Sunday’s clash against Rangers, Hibernian manager Paul Heckingbottom says his players will be going all out at Ibrox as they chase a European spot for next season. “We’ll set up to try to win it and work on that,” said Heckingbottom. “The players will be ready. It’s a tough, tough game, we know that.”

Former Celtic defender Marc Rieper says that his old team should make an approach for ex-West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, who he thinks would be a perfect fit at Celtic Park. “Slaven’s tremendously passionate about football,” said Rieper. “I spoke to him a few times when he was at West Ham and Croatia and I think he plays a style of football that would suit Celtic really well.”

Meanwhile, Celtic interim boss Neil Lennon reckons that Ajax’s impressive run in the Champions League this season proves that clubs with smaller resources can compete at Europe’s top table. Lennon said: “You always aspire. People are talking about Ajax now and what they have achieved this season with a far smaller budget than the bigger clubs so nothing is impossible.”

Ahead of Celtic’s fixture against Aberdeen tomorrow, where the Parkhead side will only require a point to seal the title, Dons manager Derek McInnes has revealed that his team will be going for the win so that they can cement their own European ambitions. “We just need to make sure, for our own sake, that they can win the league elsewhere because it would mean that we’ve picked up a very important three points,” said McInnes.

And the Aberdeen manager has been hit with a one-match ban from the Scottish FA after responding to chants directed at him from the Celtic support during last month’s Scottish Cup semi-final. The decision means that McInnes will be sitting in the stands at Pittodrie for tomorrow’s fixture.

The Scottish FA have also fined Celtic and Rangers £7,500 each for failing to control their players in the aftermath of Celtic’s 2-1 win over Rangers at Parkhead in March.

Hearts manager Craig Levein has warned his Kilmarnock counterpart Steve Clarke - a contender to be the next Scotland manager - that the job is far from a dream role with large spells between matches that some managers aren’t suited to. Levein said: “It’s just not what you think it is. It’s a football management job, but it’s not the same.”

Livingston manager Gary Holt has urged his goalkeeper Liam Kelly to remain at the club and has offered the 23-year-old a new contract. Holt said: “He’s playing first-team football at the moment, do you want to risk that going somewhere and not being the No.1? I don’t know.”

Celtic defender Kieran Tierney could face a spell on the sidelines and is a doubt for Scotland’s June double-header as the full-back is to receive a double hernia operation.

Davie Hay reckons that news of the procedure is good news for Celtic fans, as it will allow Tierney to become injury-free and get back to his best.

And Hay thinks that the best way for his old club to honour Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers’ legacy at the club is by winning trophies and maintaining a winning philosophy.

Following Hibernian chief executive Leeann Dempster’s comments that she believes Scottish football is ready for openly-gay footballers, Graeme McGarry thinks that while sexuality has become more inconsequential in wider society, there remains a minority of football fans that would abuse a player for coming out.

Elsewhere, the Daily Record are reporting that Crystal Palace are weighing up a bid for Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield.

And Ex-Rangers manager Dick Advocaat has told the Scottish Sun that he would ‘definitely’ take the Scotland job if he was offered it.
