CALLUM McGregor said this week that he voted for Allan McGregor as his PFA Player of the Year. And I am a wee bit surprised that Allan is not amongst the nominations to be honest.

He has been a terrific signing for Steven Gerrard and been an outstanding performer for Rangers. He has saved them so many points and made such an impact at Ibrox.

Allan may be 37 now, but he has shown no signs at all of slowing down and he has some time left yet.

He has been like a captain for Rangers this season and he doesn’t need to wear the armband to lead by example.

Whenever something needs sorted on the park, whenever a team-mate needs defended, he is out of his area and involved.

You need to stick up for each other on the field and you have to back each other. Allan certainly does that, although he has been booked a couple of times for arguing with referees.

He has been so consistent and played at such a high level this term so he can feel aggrieved at not being nominated.
