SCOTT BAIN Conceded a free-kick just two minutes into the game. Fine save from Defoe in the second period as Celtic were on the ropes but kept busy throughout. (6)

MIKAEL LUSTIG Injured at the end of the opening period and was replaced by Toljan. Went off with just a minute to go before the break leaving Celtic to play on with ten men. (5)

KRISTOFFER AJER Tried to carry the ball out and at times seemed like Celtic’s most likely source of building something but costly mistake when he allowed Scott Arfield to get in front of him to score Rangers’ second goal. Booked for a foul on Ryan Kent. (6)

JOZO SIMUNOVIC Busy afternoon for the Croatian as Defoe, Kent and Arfield all kept him on his toes.

JOHNNY HAYES Booked for upending Arfield in the second period but worked his socks off on the left-hand side. Difficult afternoon but one of few who emerged with any credit from the Celtic side. (7)

MIKEY JOHNSTON In for the injured James Forrest but as difficult an afternoon as the one he endured at Ibrox back in December. Struggled throughout and hooked just after Rangers netted their second goal of the day. (5)

TOM ROGIC Game passed him by. A player who needs game time after injury to really get going. Looked off the pace and never got going. Contributed nothing of significance. (5)

SCOTT BROWN Took an elbow from Jon Flanaghan for which the Rangers midfielder got away with just a yellow. No penalty for the incident which took place in the box also irked Celtic. Brown did his best to keep Celtic’s midfielder together in an afternoon in which it was overrun for most of the game. Allowed Kamara to get away from him in build up to Scott Arfield’s goal. (6)

CALLUM McGREGOR Struggled to impose himself on the game. Looks exhausted and a lot like a player who has run out of steam after a long season. Could do with a break before the Cup Final. (6)

OLIVER BURKE One mistimed jump in the opening period seemed symptomatic of a desperately poor performance. Anonymous. Should have buried one effort with just seven minutes remaining after Edouard had teed him up. (4)

ODSONNE EDOUARD Difficult afternoon for the Frenchman.  The architect of Celtic’s only real chance in the game when he teed up Burke in the closing stages. (6)

Substitutes:

JEREMY TOLJAN On at the interval after Lustig and did alright for the second period. (5)

SCOTT SINCLAIR Took over from Johnston but little chance to really make his mark on the game. (4)

OLIVIER NTCHAM On for Rogic for the final 20 minutes of the game and linked up with Edouard to create Celtic’s only chance of the game. Might well have lent Celtic’s midfield more solidity had he started. (5)
