BAIN: Distribution poor at times which is unusual given it was this strength that saw him usurp Craig Gordon from the number one spot at the turn of the year. Left exposed for Ryan Edwards’ opening goal but some important catches in the anxious final minutes of the game. (7)

LUSTIG: The Swede’s header from his own half set up Edouard for Celtic’s second goal of the day. Could well have been his final game for the club with his contract now up. Lifted the Cup alongside Brown.  (7)

AJER: Coming od age season encapsulated in a tussle with John Souttar just before Celtic took the lead for the first tome in the game. Has become more streetwise this season, shown by one crunching early tackle that was applauded by captain Scott Brown. (7)

SIMUNOVIC: In amongst it at times, especially in the second period when Uche Ikpeazu arrived. Has been given another chance at Celtic under Neil Lennon. (7)

HAYES: Stepped in for Kieran Tierney who failed to make the squad with a double hernia problem. Flailing tackle as he dived in to Edwards in the build-up to Hearts taking the lead. (7)

FORREST: Usual industrious shift on the flank. Up against Hearts kid Aaron Hickley there was a suspicion that it could be an afternoon for the Player of the Year to dominate but it didn’t materialise that way. Worked his socks off but looks shattered after his 62nd game of the season.  (7)

ROGIC: Never got going in the game and was struggling by the time he was replaced by Olivier Ntcham in the second period. (6)

BROWN: Donned a pair of odd boots for the clash but expected performance from the Celtic captain. Burst into the Hearts box at one stage just after the Tynecastle side had taken the lead as he tried to give Celtic the impetus to get back into the game. Collected his 20th senior medal when he led Celtic up the steps for the trophy – 19 of which have come with the Parkhead side. (7)

MCGREGOR: At the heart of Celtic’s most incisive move of the opening half when he collected deep inside his own half before sending Rogic forward. Like Forrest, another who looks dead on his feet after being so pivotal to Celtic this term. (7)

JOHNSTON: Teenager got the starting shirt ahead of Scott Sinclair. Linked well at times with Hayes and clever feet but reticent to shoot on a couple of occasions when he found himself in a decent position. Replaced by Sinclair in the second period. (7)

EDOUARD: Outstanding performance from the striker. Showed his quality with the two calm strikes that won Celtic the game. Kept his nerve to dispatch the penalty which he won, despite Hearts keeper Zdenek Zlamal guessing the right way and clinical with his second. (9)

NTCHAM: Took over from Rogic for the last 20 minutes of the game. Took a kick to the top of his foot in the frantic final minutes. (5)

SINCLAIR: On for Johnston and almost marked his arrival with a goal after a burst into the box. Dragged his effort wide but was a fresh pair of legs. (5)

BITTON: Arrived for the closing stages for Hayes as Celtic looked to see the game out. (5)
