FORMER Swansea City defender Martin Olsson has caught the eye of the Rangers scouting department, Celtic have begun talks with Motherwell over the transfer of David Turnbull and Kieran Tierney is attracting interest from Ligue 1.

Olsson to Rangers?

31-year-old Swedish international Martin Olsson is a target for Rangers, according to reports in the Scotsman. The left-back is a free agent having left Swansea City, with Nottingham Forest and Fenerbache also monitoring the defender.

Celtic begin 'direct talks' with Motherwell for Turnbull

The Daily Record are reporting that Celtic have stepped up their interest in Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull and have formally began negotiating the 20-year-old's transfer. Turnbull, rated at around £3 million by the Fir Park club, reportedly has admirers down in England as well who are monitoring his situation closely.

Celtic linked with ex-England international

The Scottish Sun believe that Celtic are weighing up a move for 36-year-old centre-back Phil Jagielka after the former England international left Goodison Park upon the expiry of his contract. Jagielka, who only made seven first team appearances last season, would be offered a short-term deal, should the move go ahead.

Morelos to Newcastle?

Newcastle United are now the bookies' favourites to sign Alfredo Morelos from Rangers this summer, replacing Real Betis as the Colombian's most likele destination. The Scottish Sun are reporting that bookmakers have slashed the odds of a move to St James' Park from 33/1 down to 2/1.

Ajer to stay put

Following Norway manager Lars Lagerback's suggestion that Kristoffer Ajer would improve at a better rate if he was playing in a higher standard of domestic competition, the 21-year-old has underlined his commitment to Celtic. Ajer said: "I have a three-year deal at Celtic and I am one of the world's biggest clubs. I love to play there."

Lyon target Tierney

After Moussa Dembele's successful move to Olympique Lyon last summer, the French side are considering a move for another Celtic player according to the Scotsman - Kieran Tierney. With their current left-back Ferland Mendy reportedly on the brink of joining Real Madrid, the Ligue 1 club are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old Scotland international.

Thomson: Rangers are ready to challenge for title

Ex-Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson is confident Rangers are on the right track to launch a challenge for the Premiership title next term. "He [Gerrard] will know the bits that he wants to improve and it was always going to be small steps, even though that is difficult at a club like this," said Thomson. "It does take time and I think we will be bang there next season and really putting pressure on for the league."

Main joins Aberdeen

Former Motherwell striker Curtis Main has left Fir Park to join Aberdeen on a two-year deal, report the Press and Journal. The 26-year-old joins the Pittodrie club on a free transfer, after his contract with the Lanarkshire side expired at the end of the season.

Premier League clubs reject UEFA revamp

Scottish football clubs have been handed a boost after the English Premier League reaffirmed their opposition to proposals to radically alter European competition, creating a three-tier structure that incorporates promotion and relegation from 2024. A statement from the Premier League read: "The Premier League and our clubs today unanimously reaffirmed our strong opposition to the proposed reform of UEFA club competitions from 2024, which would alter the structure, calendar and competitiveness of league football."

Morgan looking to follow loan stars' example

Celtic winger Lewis Morgan, who spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Sunderland, plans on following the example of Ryan Christie, Kris Ajer and Callum McGregor by using his loan experience to break into the first team at Celtic Park. "They went out and improved by playing week in and week out and getting games in their legs," said Morgan. "Then they went back and really pushed for the team. That’s what I am aiming to do now."

Dundee join race for Doolan

New Dundee manager James McPake wants to bring 33-year-old forward Kris Doolan to Fir Park but faces stiff competition for the forward's signature, according to the Daily Record. The former Partick Thistle strker is a free agent after being released by the Firhill club, and counts Ayr United, Greenock Morton and Airdrie amongst his admirers.

Work begins on Rugby Park pitch

The Scottish Sun are reporting that work has begun at Kilmarnock's Rugby Park to install a new artificial surface. The current pitch has been in place since 2014.
