I think Ryan Jack was worthy of a place in the Scotland squad given how well he has performed for Rangers this season.
But, being selfish and as a Rangers fan, I am pleased that he didn’t get the call up by Steve Clarke.
It has been a long, hard, gruelling season and Ryan played a lot of football for Steven Gerrard’s side.
So it will do him good to get a couple of extra weeks off and to relax for a bit before getting back into pre-season training with Rangers later this month.
It is going to be a huge season for Rangers and Steven will want everyone available to hit the ground running when the players report back to the Hummel Training Centre.
The longer the rest the players can get the better.
Ryan, on his performances, deserved a place in the squad and I am sure he would have been pleased if he had been called on for the games with Cyprus and Belgium.
But I am delighted that he is not there and that he is getting a rest to be at his best for Rangers going into the new season.
